Days 29 – 31: Bau Bau Lake Garda
We pack up and head for Garda, looking for somewhere to stay on the way. Daddy said that he’d found a beach just for dogs! Wow, imagine. I think that we are going to stay there, I can’t wait – maybe I’ll be able to get a massage and my nails done whilst I sunbathe. I am going more blonde and rocking the strawberry blonde look so a couple days of topping that up should be fun.
The journey was pretty uneventful but we arrived at a campsite that had a space so moved in. The campsite, Camping Bergamini, is on the south side of Lake Garda and only a little way from the dog beach, “Bau bau beach”. The campsite is very busy with a lot of children and some unfriendly dogs – I don’t know why they don’t just chill, it’s lovely here. Mommy is very pleased with the toilet and shower facilities, which she does get hung up on and they even have shower facilities for me – oh no!
We went for a walk and found that Lake Garda has a lot of tourists from Britain, Germany and Italy so is a little built up. I don’t mind though and head straight into the lake for a paddle and a cool off. Mommy and Daddy had some lunch in Vecchio Mulino Beach, which looked nice but they wouldn’t share it with me.
Day 30: The next day we headed to Bracco Baldo Beach, which is the full name of Bau Bau Beach. At first the man said that they were fully booked, Mommy and Daddy looked gutted, but then the man came back and said there was a cancellation – woof woof, sorry bau bau. Who would have thought that you had to reserve a sunbed! We settled into our little pitch, with sunbeds for all three of us and an umbrella. I set about making friends with the Italian dog next door. I think that he fancied me as he wouldn’t leave me alone, even when I told him to leave me alone, I guess some of us just have “it”. Mommy and I spent a lot of time swimming in the lake, it was brilliant although I was jealous of the other dogs who had water toys to play with. Mommy was jealous of the people with jelly swimming shoes as apparently the rocks and stones hurt her feet – I was fine because I’m a brave girl.
Unfortunately, there was a horrible accident where a lady fell on the rocks next to Mommy and split her head wide open. Mommy and Daddy were really upset about it and looked after the lady’s dog whilst lots of people helped her and called an ambulance. The lady was not in a good way and it was really quite sad, we hope that she’s ok.
The beach is brilliant, I get a free bowl of water and people even came and gave me two bags of treats that, together with swimming in the lake works for me. I hope that we are coming back tomorrow.
Day 31: Can you believe it….. we were woken up this morning by thunderstorms. We are all starting to think that we are a complete jinx on the weather. Mommy has form in this area, having been both to Dubai and Bahrain, which are very hot, dry countries, and had 3 days of consecutive rain in each country whilst she was there. If you like the sun you should avoid going anywhere that she goes, although I will stick with her as I don’t mind the rain and I do love cuddles with my Mommy.
The weather put pay to any beach action so Mommy and Daddy decided to spend the morning doing some admin that they hadn’t done before they left home – they are so badly organised at times. We then walked into Peschiera del Garda, which is our nearest village, about 3kms away. It was a nice walk along the lake front although very busy, and luckily it stopped raining. The village is pretty but it was packed full of people and there wasn’t really anywhere for me to have a run so we headed back. Mommy and Daddy stopped for lunch AGAIN at Tortuga, which was nicely done out but I don’t think the food lived up to their expectations. I did get some treats from their plates though so I’m very happy. I love human food it is so much more exciting than dog food.
Back at the campsite, Mommy FaceTimed Nanna and Grampy, I really miss my Nanna, she is one of my favourites. Daddy then put on my pink bling that my friend Fay bought me, I miss Fay too, and took my photo. A lovely Italian lady then came and fed me treats and rubbed my belly. She seemed to love me and took lots of photos of me so I rewarded her with a big face lick. She was nice.
Back came the rain, so Knigel got a spring clean – he needed it, filthy beast! I think we are leaving Lake Garda tomorrow to head up to Germany, I hope it isn’t raining there and that I can find people to throw things for me. I guess the next language to learn is German so I will listen really hard to Daddy to see if I can learn any. I’m going to have so much to teach Nora (my sister) when I get back.
Bau bau for now………
