The Sun has got its Hat On……..Somewhere
Day 49 was much more pleasant, no rain – hooray, so we headed for the walk we had previously intended. It was around 15kms through the Morvan forest, directly from the campsite. A really beautiful walk through the trees, around lakes and streams. Juno was in her element and we didn’t see another soul the entire walk.
After a short rest break at Knigel we walked into the village of Saulieu. Our expection was of a wealthy, fairly swanky village as it is known as a gourmet capital and has a 3 Michelin starred restaurant, Le Relais Bernard Loiseau. It really wasn’t very swanky at all! But, we found a lovely fromagerie, with a favourite cheese of the past (doesn’t everyone have these!), called Langres. We stocked up, met a lovely French / English lady for a chat and Juno was tortured by the smells – yes she was even allowed in the cheese shop, and they gave her a slice of cheese.
Overnight, yet more thunderstorms as we head back into wine country…… Mersault we are coming.
